In part one of this two-part blog series, we looked at some initial preparation elements to keep in mind when you have furniture being delivered to your home. From measuring basic delivery pathways and room sizes to having a basic layout in mind ahead of time, there are several things you can do to make the furniture delivery process simple and easy for everyone involved, yourself included.
At Guild Hall Home Furnishings, we’re happy to offer a huge range of bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, and other furnishings for any part of your Salt Lake City or Millcreek home. Today’s part two of our series will go over some additional preparation elements we recommend ahead of any significant furniture delivery you have coming up.
Make Disposal or Sale Plans for Old Furniture
In many cases, new furniture delivery will also mean that old furniture is on its way out. Before the delivery arrives, make sure to have a plan in mind for what you’ll do with that old furniture.
If it’s in good condition, you can consider selling it or donating it to someone who could use it. If not, then you might want to make arrangements for its disposal prior to having your new furniture delivered.
As you’re doing this, keep in mind the timing of your existing furniture disposal or sale relative to when the new furniture is due. You don’t want to find yourself without seating or sleeping arrangements while you wait for the old furniture to be taken away and the new pieces brought in.
Declutter and Remove Hazards
Especially if you know delivery professionals will be moving through several rooms or areas of your home, make sure you declutter and remove any potential safety hazards in the delivery path.
If possible, relocate items like fragile decorations to a safe location while the furniture is being delivered. Keep in mind that furniture moving often involves some disassembly of doors or door frames which could damage items nearby.
Finally, it’s always a good idea to check with your furniture delivery company on any specific preparations they may recommend for your space prior to the arrival of your new furniture.
Pets and Children
Finally, if you have pets or small children at home, make sure to take special care when it comes to their safety and comfort during the furniture delivery process. If possible, it’s best to have someone available who can monitor your children and/or any pets who may be around for the duration of the delivery.
Furniture delivery is an exciting experience, but it can also be overwhelming if you don’t take the necessary preparations. With these tips in mind, you should be well on your way to having a successful furniture delivery experience.
At Guild Hall Home Furnishings, we’re always here to help make sure that process is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Contact us today to learn more about our selection of furniture for your Salt Lake City or Millcreek home. We look forward to helping you bring your vision to life!
